Raymond was called to the Bar in England in 1996 and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Singapore on 21 March 1998 as an Advocate and Solicitor. Raymond started his professional career as a Legal Assistant handling a wide range of work including civil and contractual claims such as personal injuries and general litigation work, corporate secretarial work and criminal practice with the primary focus on family law. Raymond remains in active litigation practice from 1998 to date, handling cases commencing in the Family Justice Courts to instituting and defending cases in the High Court and in the Court of Appeal.
